Welcome to the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women’s (NOBEL-Women) website. It is indeed an honor to serve as the National President of such an esteemed group of women. I hope that you are as excited as I am, as the organization embraces the idea of Learn, Live and Lead.
For nearly thirty (30) years, NOBEL-Women has remained committed to increasing and promoting the presence of Black women in government, non-profit and corporate leadership. In doing so, we accepted the charge to unite women around issues that matter most to them; education, health, social and economic justice, and telecommunications.
As an organization, our main objectives are: (a) creating programs and platforms that advance black women in the fields of public policy, public service and civic engagement; (b) serving as a network and support system for Black women in leadership; (c) serving as a medium for thoughtful dialogue on issues of public interest between elected officials and stakeholders; and (d) training and educating a class of cultivated and experienced women to assume government and/or corporate leadership roles.
As women, we have a duty not only to our communities, but to ourselves to lead in the direction of progress. In the words of late Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm (NY), “You don’t make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by implementing ideas”. Join NOBEL-Women as we seek to bring you new experiences, highlight your ideas and breed a new generation of Black women leaders.
Looking forward to serving you.
Rep. Laura Hall (AL)
